XFM Manchester presents Starsailor's James Walsh acoustic set - win tickets!

James will be doing an intimate acoustic performance in Manchester on Thursday 12th March in a gig presented by XFM Manchester. He will be supported by an acoustic set by Liam Frost. The venue is The Deaf Institute, Grosvenor Street, Manchester.

Tickets for the gig will not be on sale, they are only being offered as competition prizes, to Starsailor fans who read the site, MB and are on the mailing list, in on air competitions on XFM Manchester and through the XFM Manchester web site.

We are launching our competition a little early to give you a head start, XFM won't be announcing theirs until Monday. We have 40 pairs of tickets to give away. All you have to do is fill in the form on Good Souls, correctly answering the question posed and we will draw 40 lucky winners, from the correct entries, after the closing deadline.

You will be sent an e-mail advising that you have won a pair of tickets and you must confirm back to me within 24 hours that you are able to attend. If I don't hear back from you by the deadline, your tickets will simply be offered to someone else. Because of the high number of tickets, I will not send reminders, tickets will only be allocated to people who confirm their attendance and you will be advised how to get into the gig in my reply.

Please ensure that you type your e-mail address correctly in the form and check your trash or SPAM filters on the day we're advising winners. The other contact information is required just to assist me in case of last minute availability, or changes to the plans.

If you find that you are unable to attend at any point in the process, please let me know so that someone else can be given the opportunity.

Only one entry per person please, duplicate entries will be disqualified. The deadline to enter is 9pm on Sunday 8th March. Winners will be notified during Monday 9th March and must reply by the corresponding time on Tuesday 10th March.

The problem for me is... The confirmation (March 9) is a bit late to organize a travel at a reasonable price. But I might try anyway. Smile

It varies enormously from competition to competition. This one will go out in the mailer from the band on Monday so is likely to get a big response as it's basically open to anyone who hears about it.

The biggest one was for the ULU gig in London a few years ago - there were many thousands of entries for that - luckily they went direct to EMI and their software compiled them into a HUGE spreadsheet for me.

The problem is that I'll send out 40 e-mails, 8 of them will bounce straight away as their mailboxes are full or they typed their address wrong, so I'll sort those out and try and re-send. Then I'll start getting replies asking questions they want to base their decision on. So it's a long way from 40 messages.

The joy for me, is as you say, making people happy. But I make a rod for my own back by trying to ensure that all 40(80) places are taken up and no tickets wasted.

Even if I'm not lucky enough to win tickets I'm sure those that do go will have a fantastic time, James is such a fantastic singer. They are in for a real treat. Razz
